Key accused in Telangana ‘sheep scam’ missing, BJP MLA takes aim at Owaisi

BJP MLA Raja Singh targeted All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi and the police over the key accused.

In the Telangana ‘sheep distribution scam’ who are currently on the run. Two key accused, Syed Mohidoddin and Syed Ikramuddin Ahmed, reportedly fled the country before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered its case. It is alleged that both of them have escaped to other countries and are threatening witnesses from abroad.

The ACB, on Thursday, arrested four government officials in the ‘sheep scam’ as part of an ongoing investigation into the criminal misappropriation case registered against officials of the Animal Husbandry Department.

The arrested individuals include D Ravi and M Aditya Kesava Sai, both Assistant Directors, along with Sri Pasula Raghupathi Reddy, a District Groundwater Officer, and Sri Sangu Ganesh, a Deputy Director in the Adult Education Department.

These officials allegedly worked with private entities to fabricate fraudulent benami accounts, resulting in the misappropriation of around Rs 2.10 crore of government funds.

BJP MLA Raja Singh has now questioned the authorities for allowing the key accused to escape, and the silence of Asaduddin Owaisi over the matter.

“How such individuals can evade law enforcement and why Owaisi, who advocates for the return of students from Russia, remains silent on this matter,” Singh said. He also highlighted another case where the son of BRS former MLA Shakil Amir Mohammed, had fled to Dubai.
