Lawrence Bishnoi mastermind in Sidhu Moose Wala murder, says Delhi Police
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HS Dhaliwal said that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder.
The official added that five more shooters had been identified by the police in the case. He also said that Siddhesh Hiraman Kamle, alias Mahakal, had been arrested. Mahakal is a close associate of the main shooter in the killing of the popular singer, the police said.
“Delhi Police Special Cell has been working on the Moose Wala case. Attempts are being made to arrest the accused persons as soon as possible. The case is registered in Punjab, but our effort has been to ensure the killers are arrested. Identification of killers is the first step. The special cell has been working against organised crime and gangs,” Dhaliwal said.
The Punjab Police on Tuesday said it had arrested eight people so far in connection with the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
SIDHU MOOSE WALA MURDER
On May 29, singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district. Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead a day after the state government curtailed his security cover. His cousin and a friend, who were travelling in a jeep with him, were also injured in the attack.
The Punjab police had termed the incident a case of an inter-gang rivalry and had said the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind it. Canada-based Goldy Brar, who is a member of Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for the murder.
The Punjab Police had set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder under the supervision of the head of the anti-gangster task force (AGTF).
WHO IS LAWRENCE BISHNOI?
Lawrence Bishnoi, currently in Delhi Police’s custody, is a graduate and is a resident of Punjab’s Firozepur. Bishnoi completed his LLB from Panjab University and started getting involved in illegal activities. Some of the early cases against him were lodged in Chandigarh and other states.
Bishnoi and his gang, which includes professional shooters, operate from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh, and their network is spread across the globe.
The Bishnoi gang extorts money from the liquor mafia, Punjabi singers, and other influential people.
