Living brother’s dream, Tracy Cortez wants spectacular finish against Rose Namajunas

A week before her fight against Rose Namajunas at UFC Denver, Tracy Cortez paid a heartwarming tribute to her brother, Jose, who passed away in 2011.

Cortez said that her brother’s dream is now hers and July 13, Saturday, would be the biggest fight of her career. The 30-year-old has some big plans for the fight against Thug Rose and on how she wants to end it.

Speaking to Indiatoday.in in an exclusive interaction, Cortze said she felt very motivated to be there for the event and aims to win it in a spectacular fashion in the end.

“Yeah, you know, being here I’m very, very motivated, to get this win and in a spectacular way,” said Cortez.

And Cortez doesn’t see the fight going the distance.

“Honestly, A fight can go anywhere, but I do see it ending soon,” said Cortez.

But Cortez isn’t seeing Thug Rose lightly. The 30-year-old said that Namajunas is an experienced fighter but is ready to go the distance if needed with the former champion as she feels she has prepared for this moment.

“She’s experienced. She’s very experienced, but at the end of the day we’re fighting. It’s a fight and I believe I’ve been preparing myself for this moment my entire career, so I’m going in there prepared for a fifth fight if that’s where it has to go,” said Cortez.

Aiming to stay active
Cortez stepped in to save the main event of UFC Denver, and she has a winning streak going in the company. Cortez has won her last 5 fights but the time gap between each of her bouts has been long. The fight against Namajunas comes after her last appearance in the octagon in September 2023. But this is something Cortez is aiming to sort out after UFC Denver.

The 30-year-old said she is hoping to stay active and come out of the bout with no injuries so she could get back into the mix quickly.

“Absolutely, yeah. After this fight, I hope to stay active and come out healthy. No injuries and just right back into it,” said Cortez.

And Cortez is seemingly looking at Noche UFC as she looks to fight one more time this year.

“I hope to fight one more time, preferably the sphere, September 14th. So again, once this fight ends and if I’m injury free and I’ll go as well, I would like to jump on that on that card,” said Cortez.
