Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday emphasized the improvement of the law and order situation in the country using technology.

While addressing the Chintan Shivir of home ministers of states in Haryana’s Surajkund, PM Modi said, “The cost of technology to improve law and order will save other expenses.”

Make sure India’s law and order system gets smart, said PM Modi via video conferencing at the two-day Chintan Shivir attended by home ministers of states, home secretaries, DGPs, CAPFs, and CPOs.

The agendas of the two-day Chintan Shivir, held at Surajkund, include modernization of police forces, women safety and drug trafficking.

The prime minister urged the home ministers of the states to spend on improving technology to benefit the law and order situation in the country as “costs of technology to improve law and order will save other expenses.”

Emphasising his point, Modi asked the state heads to “not weigh technology with budget.”

PM Modi said, “This Chintan Shivir of HMs in Surajkund is an excellent example of cooperative federalism. States can learn from each other, take inspiration from each other and work together for the betterment of the country – this is the sentiment of the Constitution and our duty towards our citizens.”

“Amid various challenges, strengthening of the country’s unity during festivals is a reflection of your preparations. Law & Order is states’ responsibility but these are linked to the unity and integrity of the nation too,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi, at the Chintan Shivir, said that there is a need to maintain a good perception. “During Covid, the police’s reputation improved. They were helping the needy, arranging essentials, risking their own lives. They did not lack in dutifulness. The need is to maintain a good perception. For this, inspiring the police force, planning for it and guiding them should continue,” said the PM.

Union Minister Amit Shah initiated the address and said that the Home Ministry along with chief ministers, lieutenant governors, and governors of states, discussed law and order and domestic security of the country in the two-day Chintan Shivir.
