Man with a heart of gold: Rohit Sharma, cricketing world mourn Ratan Tata’s death

India captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and other members of the cricketing world sent in their tributes to the late great Ratan Tata, after his death on October 9, Wednesday.

Ratan Naval Tata, the iconic figure of Indian industry and Chairman Emeritus of Tata Group, passed away late Wednesday at the age of 86. He had been receiving treatment for a long-standing illness at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in the days leading up to his demise.

The business tycoon had led the transformation of Tata group into a global powerhouse through several high-profile acquisitions. The demise of Mr. Tata had various personalities from politics and entertainment sending in their tributes. Now, the cricketing world has joined in with Rohit leading the way. The Indian captain wrote an emotional note for Mr. Tata, calling him a man with a heart of gold.

Rohit said that Mr. Tata would be remembered as someone who truly cared for others.

“A man with a heart of gold. Sir, you will forever be remembered as someone who truly cared and lived his life to make everyone else’s better,” wrote Rohit on X.

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar called Mr. Tata’s death as the end of an era and hailed him as an inspirational man.

“End of an era. The epitome of kindness, most inspirational, marvel of a man. Sir, you have touched so many hearts. Your life has been a blessing to the nation. Thank you for your endless and unconditional service. Your legacy will live on. Rest in glory, sir,” said Suryakumar.
