Meet Nihita Biswas, the loving wife of Bikini Killer Charles Sobhraj who’s awaiting his release

A day ago, Nihita Biswas was beaming with joy after she learnt that the Supreme Court of Nepal passed orders to release her husband notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj, more popularly known as the ‘bikini killer’.

As news of Charles Shobraj’s release came out, old news items on him started tumbling out. Sobhraj had been the subject of magazine covers, books, films and OTT series because of the notoriously criminal life he led and the manner in which he dodged the police of several countries for years.

However, his love life also made tabloid headlines especially his marriage with Nihita Biswas, a much younger Nepalese woman whom he met in jail. At the time, Sobhraj was 64 and Biswas 21.

Nihita Biswas had told the press that she fell for Sohbraj when he asked for an interpreter in prison. She said he was innocent, the charges against him were false and ended up marrying the international criminal.

Nihita Biswas became famous for marrying a serial killer and that too a man much older than her. She made news again when she took part in Big Boss 5.

On his part, Charles Sobhraj, in a 2008 interview, said it was love at fight sight for the two of them.

Sobhraj was accused of murdering around 20 people during the 1970s. He would charm and befriend his victims, most of whom were hippies from the West, before he drugged, murdered and robbed them. Two of the people he ordered were found in bikinis. Hence the moniker ‘bikini killer.’

The Supreme Court of Nepal ordered Sobhraj’s release on grounds of his age and had also passed directions for his deportation within 15 days of his release. However, jail authorities in Nepal have refused to release the notorious criminal stating that the Supreme Court’s decision is “vague” and does not mention for which case was the release being granted to him.
