India’s star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has opened about his Paris Diamond League snub and said the event wasn’t part of his competition calendar.

This year and he is focusing on getting ready for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. Neeraj will be looking to defend his crown during the Olympics this year and had taken part in the Doha Diamond League, the Federation Cup back home and the Paavo Nurmi Games.

It was reported that Neeraj had withdrawn from the Paris Diamond League as he wanted to focus on his health and now the star javelin thrower has offered clarification. In a tweet he posted on his official X account, Neeraj said that he didn’t actually ‘withdraw’ from the event as it wasn’t part of his calendar this season.

“Hello, everyone. Just to clarify: the #ParisDL wasn’t part of my competition calendar this season, so I haven’t ‘withdrawn’ from it. I’m focusing on getting ready for the Olympic Games. Thanks for your understanding and support, and wishing all the athletes competing all the best!” said Neeraj in the tweet.

Neeraj to address adductor issue after Olympics

Neeraj had commented on his adductor issues earlier in the year and said he would be looking to address the matter after the Olympics is done.

“Every year I have some problems with my adductor, maybe after the Olympics I am going to talk to different doctors.” Chopra, however, expressed the desire to compete in more competitions this season.

“Initially I wanted to compete more this season, but it was not possible due to my niggles,” he added.

Neeraj had finished 2nd in the Doha Diamond League earlier this year before getting gold in the Federation Cup and Paavo Nurmi Games.
