New Jeffrey Epstein files reveal Ghislaine Maxwell recruited dozens of girls for ‘massage’
A fresh set of unsealed documents related to convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Who killed himself in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, was released on Thursday (local time) and revealed how teenage girls recruited at his Florida home for massage and work opportunities were sexually abused.
The nineteen documents released focused on how these teenage girls were convinced to go to Epstein’s home and coaxed to bring their friends for work and additional payment, NBC News reported.
One woman, who was 16 or 17 at the time, recounted her lack of massage experience and the absence of any expectation of sexual activity, only to have Epstein remove her clothes without consent during their first meeting.
According to the deposition of a woman whose name remains redacted, late former Palm Beach police detective Joseph Recarey stated that British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence, played a significant role in seeking out young girls for Epstein.
Recarey interviewed around 33 women, most of whom were under 18 and lacked any massage experience. He revealed that victims were often asked to bring friends to Epstein’s home, with some complying.
According to Recarey, when the victims were hired at Epstein’s home in Florida for a message, it was for “sexual gratification”, CNN reported.
“Each of the victims that went to the home was asked to bring their friends to the home. Some complied and some didn’t,” Recarey was quoted by NBC News as saying.
The fresh documents totalling 327 pages of previously unsealed documents were released by a federal court in New York. It was done as part of a settled lawsuit against Maxwell by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a woman who said she was sexually abused by Epstein when she was a teenager in the 2000s.
More documents related to Epstein’s sex offences are expected to be released in the coming days.
On Wednesday, a US court released documents related to Epstein, revealing associations with figures such as former US President Bill Clinton, late pop icon Michael Jackson, and Britain’s Prince Andrew. The records include transcripts of victim interviews and legal arguments.
Epstein was also known for associating with celebrities, politicians, billionaires and academic stars, including a few who have also been accused of misconduct.
