Pakistan tour of Netherlands: 38-year-old Netherlands wicket-keeper Wesley Barresi recalled for ODI series
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Wesley Barresi has been recalled, while uncapped batting allrounder Arnav Jain has been named in the 15-member Netherlands squad for the three-match One-Day International series against Pakistan, beginning August 16 in Rotterdam.
The 38-year-old Barresi last played international cricket in June 2019 during the series against Zimbabwe. Netherlands tried to fill in players in the absence of those competing in the Hundred and the Royal London Cup, with as many as seven players not available for the national selection.
The likes of Fred Klaassen, Colin Ackermann, Roelof van der Merwe, and Timm van der Gugten are currently involved in the Hundred, while Paul van Meekeren, Shane Snater and Brandon Glover are playing in England’s domestic one-day competition.
Scott Edwards, who was named captain midway through Netherlands’ series against England following the retirement of Pieter Seelaar, has been given full charge for the series against Pakistan. Meanwhile, legspinner Philippe Boissevain, who played an ODI during the series against England, has been overlooked.
Pakistan arrived in the Netherlands on Saturday (August 13) to play three ODI matches on August 16, 18 and 21. All the games will be staged at the Hazelaarweg Stadium in Rotterdam.
