Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, accused of sexually assaulting multiple women, was arrested after he landed in Bengaluru in the wee hours of Friday.

Prajwal was arrested at Kempegowda International Airport by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), after he arrived from Germany and was taken to the CID office for interrogation.

Prajwal, who is the NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, had left the country in April as explicit video clips showing him allegedly sexually abusing multiple women started making the rounds in Karnataka.

Hassan went to the polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.

Three rape cases have been registered against Prajwal so far.

Earlier this week, he released a video message, saying he would appear on May 31 before the probe team and cooperate with the inquiry. He also claimed that the cases against him were false.

Prajwal said he went into “depression and isolation” after the scandal broke out and claimed that “political forces” were at work in Hassan.

“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders started campaigning against me in open forums, and politically conspiring against me. I went into depression and isolation,” he had said in the video.
