Actor Ranbir Kapoor might just have signed YRF’s Dhoom 4. At least that’s what the latest buzz in the media suggests.

The actor, who’s currently shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, will hop on to begin the fourth film in Aditya Chopra’s Dhoom franchise next. As per a report published in Pinkvilla, Ranbir has given his final nod to the makers and Chopra is busy providing finishing touches to the script with writer Vijay Krishna Acharya. A source close to the production informed that YRF is looking at completely ‘rebooting’ the entire franchise and Ranbir would play a key role in the same. Apart from Ranbir, the rest of the casting is going to take place soon and no one from the old Dhoom films will be cast in the fourth film.

The report quoted a source as saying, “Dhoom is a franchise dear to Aditya Chopra, and he has decided to reboot the franchise to keep in line with the current times. Like all previous parts, the script of Dhoom 4 (Dhoom Reloaded) has been developed by Aditya Chopra with Vijay Krishna Acharya. The idea and vision is to create a cinematic experience like never before with the fourth Dhoom film.”

“Ranbir has confirmed to lead the franchise”

While talking about Ranbir’s involvement in the film and how he came onboard, the source said, “The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest in being a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea, and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise. Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy.”

The film is going to have two new faces as cop-buddies and Ranbir is likely to play the negative lead. The report stated, “Two big heroes from the younger generation will come on board to play the duo of cop buddies in Dhoom 4.”

The idea is to make Dhoom 4 a big cinematic spectacle, to compete with the action-biggies of Hollywood. This is also going to be the 25th film of Ranbir’s career, and he wants it to be a big benchmark, defining his versatility as an actor. The popular star, who turned 42 today, September 28, has got his pipeline booked till 2028 now.

After wrapping Ramayana 1 and 2, there’s Dhoom 4, followed by Animal Park, which is an anticipated sequel to his mega-successful Animal, which was released last year.
