Agha would say that they were in a tricky spot and decided to take it one over at a time. The Pakistan vice-captain would say Ayub’s knock set the game up for Pakistan in the end.
“We were in a tricky position but we took it one over at a time and built it from there. His (Ayub’s) knock set up the game. He was there with the new ball and was running out of partners. The way he played the fast bowlers and scoring a hundred on this pitch was amazing,” said Agha.
Ayub said that he had kept the belief in his innings and thanked Agha for guiding him during his knock. “Obviously it is difficult. We were four down and on this track you need to keep the belief. He (Agha) is more experienced than me and was guiding me,” adds Ayub.
The Pakistan youngster is continuing a fine run of form in white-ball cricket. This was Ayub’s 2nd hundred in 3 matches and follows his heroic 98 not out in the 2nd T20I loss to the Proteas recently.
