Sanjay Shirsat, an MLA of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led camp, sparked.

A controversy on Sunday as he made remarks against Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) Sena MLA Priyanka Chaturvedi.

He claimed that Chaturvedi secured a position in the Rajya Sabha after Aaditya Thackeray saw her beauty. His remarks drew flak and were termed misogynistic.

However, Shirsat later attributed the comment to former MP Chandrakant Khaire, who belongs to the Uddhav Thackeray faction. He said Khaire had told him this.

Slamming Shirsat, Chaturvedi called him a traitor who sold his soul and integrity.

“I don’t need a traitor to tell me what I look like and why I’m where I am,” she tweeted. Shirsat has displayed his sick views on politics and women, she added.

Later, Aaditya Thackeray also reacted to Shirsat’s remark saying he has a “rotten” mindset. “I don’t know how people with such a rotten mindset have survived in politics,” he said.

Priyanka Chaturvedi joined the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in 2019 after leaving the Congress, where she served as a national spokesperson.
