KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan is eager to see Rinku Singh make it to India’s T20 World Cup squad and said he would be very happy if it does happen.
Rinku was a star for KKR last season and has been an integral part of the side in IPL 2024. The UP batter has been in contention to make it to India’s T20 World Cup squad after the brilliant start to his international career.
With the selection meeting likely to take place on April 30, Tuesday, all eyes will be on the KKR star to see if he will make the cut for the upcoming ICC event in the USA and the Carribean. One person who has been a big fan of Rinku has been Shah Rukh, who while talking to Star Sports, revealed his wish to see the southpaw represent India in the World Cup. In a short snippet of his interview that was released after the KKR vs DC match, Shah Rukh was seen saying he was happy to be a part of many youngsters’ career, who have gone on to play for India.
The KKR owner would then say he wants to see Rinku in the squad along with some of the other stars from the rest of the sides.
“Being able to partcipate in the journey of the youngsters, who have gone to become such amazing players and playing for the country. I am really looking forward to Rinku being in the World Cup squad and some other youngsters from other teams as well, who deserve it so much,” said Shah Rukh.
Apna hi toh personal hota hain: Shah Rukh
The KKR would admit that when it comes to Rinku, it is personal for him.
“But apna hi toh personal hota hain (but since he is with us, it is personal). So if Rinku reaches the squad, I will be very happy,” said Shah Rukh.
Rinku would come into bat at No.3 against DC and wasn’t able to make a big impact. With the KKR top order firing, his chances have been limited this season. Rinku and KKR will next be in action against MI on May 3.
