The third T20I between India and New Zealand was all about Shubman Gill, who lit up the Narendra Modi Stadium with his maiden hundred in T20Is.
The right-hander raced to his fifty off 35 balls, after which he upped the ante to get to a three-figure score off 54 balls.
On the back of Gill’s knock, India posted a massive target of 235 for the Black Caps to chase down. In the end, the Kiwis were bowled out for 66 in 12.1 overs and the Men in Blue won the match by 168 runs, their biggest in the shortest format of the game.
When Gill was playing the blinder at the home of the Gujarat Titans, a girl in the audience was seen holding a banner, which read, “Tinder, Shubman se match karado’. The picture went viral in no time.
Thereafter, Tinder India uploaded a few pictures where banners of the girl holding the placard were seen. Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav, in the meantime, poked fun at Shubman.
Yadav took to Twitter and wrote, “Poora Nagpur bol raha hai, @ShubmanGill ab toh dekh le.”
Gill is now set to take part in the Test series against Australia to be played from February 9. The opening Test will be held at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur.
Gill has had a dream run in 2023 thus far. Recently, he became the fifth Indian to score a double hundred in ODIs after Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Ishan Kishan.
In 2023, Gill scored 769 runs from 12 matches at an average of 76.90 with four hundreds to show for his efforts. Three of his four centuries in ODIs came in January.
