Opener Smriti Mandhana shattered the record of most ODI centuries for India with a terrific knock against New Zealand on Tuesday, October 29.
Playing at Ahmedabad in the 3rd and final match of the series, Mandhana scored her 8th century and guided India to a series win over New Zealand.
With the hundred, Mandhana went ahead of Mithali Raj, who had scored 7 ODI hundreds in her career. In the all-time list. Mandhana is currently tied at 5th, behind the likes of Meg Lanning, Suzie Bates, Tammy Beaumont and Chamari Athapaththu among others.
Mandhana, who played her 88th ODI match, scored 100 off 122 balls, helping India chase down the taret of 233 runs in 44.2 overs. The innings, combined with captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 59 off 63 balls, helped India exact revenge over the New Zealand side, which had beaten the Women in Blue in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024.
