Sonali Phogat’s family has given consent to conduct the actress-politician’s autopsy. The procedure is likely to be conducted today.

The digital content creator breathed her last on Tuesday (August 23). She had allegedly suffered a massive heart attack in Goa, where she had arrived along with some of her staff members on Thursday.

Speaking to India Today, Phogat’s nephew, Moninder Phogat, said, “We have now given our consent for the autopsy.” “We have given consent to the police because our lawyers and doctors suggested that after 72 hours, the body will degrade further,” he said.

“We have been assured that a panel of doctors will look into the procedure and it will be videographed as well,” he said. “If we are not satisfied with this procedure and what the doctors say, then we will again get the procedure done in Delhi,” he said.

Her brother, Rinku Dhaka, said, “Police haven’t said they will register an FIR after the post-mortem. We are waiting to see what the police will do next. We will reach Goa medical hospital by 11 am for further procedures.”

Phogat’s brother had gone live on Facebook via the actress’s official page, standing in front of a Goa police station to seek justice yesterday.

“We are not being heard,” he had said.

Earlier, Phogat’s sister had alleged a conspiracy after her death, saying she felt uneasy after eating her food. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women said, “Our two-member team in Goa had a word with the family and they agreed for the post-mortem.”

“Our team, which also feels Phogat’s death was unnatural, has visited the police, the hotel and the club which she visited,” the panel said. The police had taken the blood samples of the suspect as well, the panel said.

“The allegations made by her brother are very serious, but at this point in time, there are allegations from both sides, so we will wait for a police investigation. We will comment in the evening,” the panel said.
