SS Rajamouli’s RRR misses out at BAFTA 2023 nominations

SS Rajamouli’s RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, has been creating history with every passing day.

After securing a win in Golden Globes 2023, the film was expected to be nominated at the BAFTA 2023. This, however, did not happen. The nominations were announced on Thursday, January 19, and it failed to make the cut. RRR is a period drama, directed by SS Rajamouli.

RRR DID NOT WIN A NOMINATION AT BAFTA 2023
Naatu Naatu song, featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, from SS Rajamouli’s RRR won the Golden Globes 2023. This was a historical moment and made Indian cinema proud. But, RRR missed out at BAFTA 2023 nominations.

The SS Rajamouli film was mentioned in the longlist under the ‘Film not in English language’ category at BAFTA 2023. The film, however, has not made it to the final nominations in the same category. The nominees are All Quiet on the Western Front’, Argentina,1985, Corsage, Decision To Leave, and The Quiet Girl.

IS IT OSCARS FOR RRR?
SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been submitted in 14 categories at Oscars 2023. However, RRR is not India’s official entry to Oscars 2023.

Following the BAFTAs, the Academy Awards 2023 will take place on March 12.

RRR is a fictional drama written by Vijayendra Prasad and directed by SS Rajamouli. The film features Ram Charan and Alluri Seetharama Raju and Jr NTR as Komaram Bheem. Set in the 1920s, the film is based on the lives of these two Telugu freedom fighters. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris play supporting roles.
