Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Stree 2’ has finally helped lift Bollywood out of its dry spell.

The film has managed to cross the Rs 500 crore-mark (gross) in 10 days of release. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee.

‘Stree 2’ saw a box office opening of Rs 51.8 crore on August 15. The horror-comedy earned Rs 308 crore (including Wednesday paid previews) at the end of Day 8. On Day 10, the film earned Rs 33.80 crore. The total tally for ‘Stree 2’ now stands at Rs 361 crore (nett). Globally, the film earned Rs 505 crore. For the unversed, ‘Stree’ is made on a budget of Rs 50 crore.

Abhishek Banerjee, who plays Jana in ‘Stree 2’, credited the film’s team for the phenomenal success. He said, “When you have 200 people giving positive energy while making the film, those 200 get multiplied to 2 lakh and then 2 crore in the cinema halls.

It’s nothing but good energy on the sets. Every day, we would start a scene with a song which is relatable and contextual to the scene – may be from the early 60s, 90s – anything which is Bollywood, OG Hindi song and that’s how we start our day on the sets. We eat together, we hang out together. It’s like a family making a film.

That’s exactly how the energy is supposed to be on the sets. That’s how good films would be made in the old days. It used to be like a family gathering and that’s what ‘Stree 2’ is about. That’s the number one thing about its success.”

‘Stree 2’ clashed with John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’ at the box office. It is directed by Amar Kaushik.
