Suzie Bates breaks Mithali’s record for most international matches in women cricket
Suzie Bates breaks former Indian captain Mithali Raj’s record to become the most-capped player in the history of women’s internationals.
The 37-year-old achieved the feat in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 final on Sunday, October 20, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Since making her debut way back in 2006 as a 19-year-old, Bates stepped out for her 334th match in women’s internationals (163 ODIs and 171 T20Is). Mithali played 333 matches in her illustrious career for the Indian women’s team before pulling the curtains down after the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup on New Zealand soil.
Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry (322), current Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (316) and legendary English cricketer Charlotte Edwards (309) also feature in the list.

Suzie Bates setting new benchmarks
Having played for 18 years, Suzie Bates is one of the greatest cricketers New Zealand have ever produced, She holds the record for becoming the first batter in the history of all T20Is to score 4000 runs before Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam followed her.
Bates is also one of the cricketers along with Harmanpreet, Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry and Stafanie Taylor to play in all editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Bates has also taken part in 163 ODIs in which she has scored 5718 runs with 13 hundreds and 34 fifties.
