Pop sensation Taylor Swift has been breaking a series of records this year. Adding to her list of achievements, Time magazine has named the Midnights singer “Person of the Year” for 2023.
The Cruel Summer saw major success these past few months, thanks to her Eras Tour shows and the namesake concert film. Only recently, Swift was crowned as Spotify’s Global Top Artist of 2023. The 33-year-old singer reigned across various charts and emerged as the year’s most-streamed artist.
Ending the year on a high note, Swift told the magazine, “This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been.” Back in October, following the box office hit of her Eras Tour film, Swift became a billionaire with an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion.
This was huge not only for the singer but also for everyone in the music industry because the Shake It Off singer is one of the few artists who hit the billion-dollar club solely on her music career.
Speaking about her lengthy shows, Swift admitted feeling tired at times and told the magazine, “I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there.” “I can barely speak because I’ve been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch from dancing in heels,” the Blank Space singer added.
The American singer-songwriter recently ended the 2023 segment of her Eras Tour show in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Throughout her shows, Swift has endured whatever comes her way with valour and grace, be it performing in rain or alarmingly high temperatures.
The South American leg of her tour has been particularly distressful with hot weather leading to the death of a fan during the Rio show.
In a video from one of her Rio shows in November, the Evermore singer was seen struggling to breathe and gasping for air while on stage mid-performance. This left her fans worried about her wellbeing considering the long hours she performs frequently.
In light of her massive success at a fairly young age, the Time editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs called her “the rare person who is both the writer and hero of her own story.” Jacobs also added that Swift “found a way to transcend borders and be a source of light.”
