Top Kannada actor Darshan, wife Pavithra Gowda detained in murder case, Need Answers

Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was detained today for alleged role in the murder of a man in Bengaluru. Darshan’s wife, Pavithra Gowda, and 10 others have also been taken into custody.

The 47-year-old actor was picked up from his farmhouse in Mysuru and brought back to Bengaluru for questioning. The victim, Renuka Swamy (33), was found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. He worked at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga, and had allegedly sent derogatory messages to Darshan’s wife.

Yesterday, three people confessed to the murder and said they committed the crime allegedly on the instructions of actor Darshan.

Swamy’s parents had filed a missing complaint but were asked to wait for 2 days. (it was only a day since he went missing). The murder was reported on June 9, after which a case was registered.

The actor has been detained based on a complaint by Swamy’s mother.

Investigations are into whether the actor was directly involved in the murder or was part of the conspiracy.

Police have provided tight security at Darshan’s house at RR Nagar.

Darshan is one of the most celebrated actors in the Kannada film industry. He is also a producer and distributor of Sandalwood. After beginning his career in television, he transitioned to the big screen. Some of his superhit films include ‘Kalasipalya’, ‘Saarathi’, ‘Yajamana’, ‘Roberrt’. He was last seen in ‘Kaatera’, which hit theatres in 2023.
