Director Gautham Vasudev Menon made a comeback with STR AKA Simbu-starrer Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The film opened to good word-of-mouth reviews on September 15.
It had a great start at the box office. According to reports, the film collected over Rs 7 crore in India on its opening day. On Day 3, the number of shows for Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu increased as well, and its numbers remained decent. The movie, which will have a sequel, has been dubbed into Telugu as the Life Of Muthu.

Simbu’s Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu hit the theatres on September 15 amid much fanfare. The film marked the third collaboration of Simbu and Gautham Menon. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu got off to a flying start at the box office on its first day. Trade reports suggested that the gangster film earned over Rs 7 crore on its opening day. On Day 3, its single-day collection stood at Rs 7 crore. Hence, the total box office collection would now be Rs 19.95 crore. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu had an overall 37.52 per cent Tamil occupancy on Saturday, September 17. It brought in the most numbers from Chennai and Trichy.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a gangster film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film’s story is written by B Jeyamohan and produced by Ishari K Ganesh. The gangster film features Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles with Radikaa Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav and Aangelia Abraham were seen in supporting roles. The film has music composed by AR Rahman. The story revolves around Muthuveeran, a graduate from rural Tamil Nadu, who comes to Mumbai to earn money for his struggling family, consisting of his mother and younger sister. It follows him and the dark underworld of Mumbai, where people like Muthu are ordered to kill others for a livelihood. The film portrays Muthuveeran’s life, from a struggling young man to becoming a much feared and respected gangster.
