Sam Curran was at the centre of attention during the first ODI between England and West Indies in Antigua as the England all-rounder decided to bat with his sunglasses on.
This was England’s first match after their disastrous World Cup campaign and opted to bat first. Phil Salt and Will Jacks gave them a great start as they scored 77 runs in 8.2 overs before the hosts dismissed both the openers in quick succession to claw their way back into the game.
England were in a spot of bother at 110 for three before Zak Crawley and Harry Brook put on a 71-run partnership to steady things. Brook scored 71 runs off 72 balls as captain Jos Buttler’s poor run continued and Liam Livingstone failed to make an impact.
This is when Curran would come in to bat and in unique fashion as he was shown wearing his sunglasses while batting. This is something that isn’t usual among batters but the likes of Brian Lara and Chris Gayle have done it in the past.
Gayle used to wear his shades on while batting in the Carribean Premier League.

Curran would play a vital innings for England on the day as he powered them towards a strong total in the first ODI. The all-rounder would form a strong partnership with Brydon Carse as the duo ensured that visitors went over the 300-run mark.
Curran scored 38 off 26 balls before being run out after a big mix-up. England ended up scoring 325 runs.
