The ICC has announced the revised schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The multi-nation mega event was earlier shifted out of Bangladesh due to the political unrest in the Asian country. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was then picked as the new hosts.
The 23 matches in the tournament will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah. Dubai will host the first semi-final on October 17 followed by the second semis on October 18. There is a reserve day for both semi-finals and the final.
The grand final will take place on October 20 in Dubai. Harmanpreet Kaur’s India will face Fatima Sana’s Pakistan in the marquee clash on October 6 in Dubai. India will also face New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Dubai on October 4 and 9 respectively.
India’s last and final league match against Australia on October 13 will take place in Dubai. If India advances to the semis, they will feature in the first semi-final in Dubai.
India’s first warm-up match against West Indies is on Sunday, September 29 at the ICCA2 in Dubai. Harmanpreet’s women will also lock horns with South Africa in their second practice match on Tuesday, October 1 at ICCA1, Dubai. Overally, there will be 10 warm-up matches across four days before the main tournament gets underway on October 3.
The opening day of the World Cup will feature two matches. Bangladesh and Scotland will be up against each other in Sharjah followed by the clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the same venue.
