Brian Lara has pinpointed what he loved about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock against MI as the RR batter roared back to form on Monday, April 22.

Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 104 as RR coasted to an easy win against Mumbai to complete a double over the 5-time champions and edge closer towards the playoff spots.

Jaiswal was able to hit form at the right time with the T20 World Cup selection just around the corner and Lara, while talking to Star Sports, said that Jaiswal was taking his time with his shots against MI and yet managed to score at a high strike-rate. The West Indies legend went on to say that Jaiswal was also playing proper cricket shots during his knock.

“Yeah, it’s a beautiful innings by the young man. And, when I say, you know, you don’t have to be that aggressive, he still scores at a very high strike-rate. But the fact matter is taking his time, looking at the ball right close to the bat and he’s playing proper cricket shots,” said Lara.

Jaiswal took a lot of responsibility vs MI: Lara
Lara went on to say that Jaiswal doesn’t need to worry about the shots as he is an all-format player for India and pointed out that he liked the fact that the innings was well put together and had some great cricketing shots.

Lara also liked the fact Jaiswal was take to advantage of things after being on top of the bowlers.

“And remember, he plays all forms of the game. So, he’s got all the shots. He doesn’t have to worry about it. And when you do get on top of the bowlers and that’s when you take advantage, and that’s what I love about this innings. It was well put together. Great cricketing shots. And anyone knows, if you’re chasing such a total at Jaipur and you’ve got through the innings, then your team is gonna get there. So he took a lot of responsibility, a lot of maturity, and I’m very happy for the young man,” said Lara.

Jaiswal had just 121 runs from 7 matches before his knock on Monday and will be hoping to continue the momentum as RR travel to Lucknow to face LSG next on April 27.
